Michael Agoglia is a partner at Alston & Bird LLP. His practice is concentrated in
complex civil litigation relating to financial services companies, particularly the
defense of consumer class actions and enforcement actions. He is the former Co-Chair
of the firm’s Financial Services Litigation Practice Group and the Managing
Partner of the San Francisco office.
Throughout the two decades that he has been practicing law, Mr. Agoglia has defended
a variety of financial services institutions in a wide range of litigation, government
enforcement, and ADR contexts. He has served as national coordinating counsel for
national banks, mortgage bankers, auto finance companies, insurers, and other
financial services companies in connection with challenges to alleged referral
schemes, unfair business practices, privacy breaches, regulatory violations,
and pricing issues. He has also represented financial services industry trade
groups on numerous occasions in appellate proceedings, including at the U.S. S
upreme Court. Mr. Agoglia frequently writes and speaks on topics of financial
services litigation and enforcement. He is a graduate of Boston College and
Harvard Law School.
