John L. Ropiequet is Of Counsel at Saul Ewing Arnstein &
Lehr LLP, where he became a partner in 1977. With a trial and appellate experience that
runs the gamut from antitrust and medical malpractice cases to will contests, he
devotes most of his time to consumer financial services matters and
commercial disputes.
Mr. Ropiequet is Co-Editor of the Annual Survey of Consumer Financial Services Law
for The Business Lawyer and an active member of the Consumer Financial Services
Committee of the American Bar Association Business Law Section. He is Immediate
Past Chair
of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law and a member of the Conference’s
Governing Committee. He has also
chaired committees for the ABA Litigation Section and the Chicago Bar Association,
is former President of United Way of the North Shore, and is an active member of
the Northeast Illinois Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Ropiequet has published scores of articles on consumer finance and other topics
in The Business Lawyer, the Consumer Finance Law Quarterly Report and other
journals, and speaks frequently on consumer finance, legal ethics, evidentiary
privilege, and other issues. He is also a Co-Editor of The Law of Truth in
Lending (2018 supp.) and a contributing editor on rescission and private TILA
litigation.
Mr. Ropiequet received a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University in 1969 and a J.D.
cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law in 1972.
