David brings a wealth of experience to consumer law matters. Best Lawyers
in America (Woodward/White Inc.) lists David for Financial Services Regulation
Law (2021-2023) and named him “Lawyer of the Year” for Financial
Services Regulation Law (2023). David is also a Member of the Governing
Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law and is a Member and
former Regent of the American College of Consumer Financial Services
Lawyers. David has litigated to judgment and through appeal some of the
most important issues and cases nationally involving the legality of consumer
products and services, particularly ones involving financial services.
Before returning to his roots to rejoin the consumer’s side, David
spent more than 25 years litigating over 600 consumer cases including
dozens of class actions and regulatory enforcement matters, and over
100 appeals, involving a vast array of consumer protection claims brought
against national and state banks, credit unions, mortgage and student
lenders and servicers, manufacturer and third-party automotive finance
companies, credit card issuers, short-term money lenders, national and
regional retailers, and other businesses. David has also represented
clients in and outside of bankruptcy cases involving creditor’s and
debtor’s rights, lender liability, judgment enforcement, and
sanctions, among other issues.
David began his law practice as an Army JAG when he served four years on
active duty at the rank of Captain with the 1st Cavalry Division as a
legal assistance officer, chief of legal assistance, and a prosecutor.
David was also attached to the 4th Infantry Division as a trial defense
counsel. In 1996, he deployed with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the
1st Cavalry Division during Operation Desert Strike to the Emirate of
Kuwait, where he served as legal advisor to the commander and was
awarded The Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service. While
serving, he graduated from the United States Army Infantry School
Airborne (Paratrooper) Course. David brings that same level of
commitment and hard-charging dedication to every client’s case.
