An honors graduate of Carleton College with a Masters in Economics from
UC-Berkeley, Eldon received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he
served as a Law Review editor and as an elected Law School Council
representative. Eldon started his career as a law clerk on the Ninth
Circuit Court of Appeals. His practice over the years has primarily been
devoted to the representation of businesses, especially lending institutions
and their officers/employees, in both consumer financial services
compliance and transaction matters, and in connection with regulatory
inquiries and proceedings and in a variety of federal and
state court actions.
Eldon currently serves as a member of the City Council of Bloomington,
one of the Minnesota’s largest cities other than the Twin Cities of
Minneapolis (where his office is located) and St. Paul. He has
served for many years as an Adjunct Professor of Consumer Law and Banking
Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and its predecessor institutions, and is
an active member of the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Chapter
of the Federal Bar Association, and the Conference on Consumer Finance
Law on which he serves on the Governing Committee.
In his spare time, Eldon, a former All-American Wrestler, enjoys sports
and, as a former Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator
Dave Durenberger, also maintains a keen interest in politics. Eldon
chairs his church’s Endowment Board, and with his wife, Ann Morelli
Spencer, takes pride in the professional accomplishment of daughters
Elisa Spencer-Kaplan and Christina Bhirud as well as sons-in-law
Russ and Ketan and grandchildren Harrison, Emilia and Bennett.
