Steven I. Zeisel is Vice President and Senior Counsel for the Consumer Bankers Association. His practice covers a wide range of legal and regulatory issues associated with areas of consumer financial services. Most recently, he has been actively involved in Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and fair lending issues. As part of Mr. Zeisel’s active membership in the American Bar Association, he helped to create and maintain the financial literacy web site, Safeborrowing.com.
Mr. Zeisel was formerly a Senior Attorney with the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs of the Federal Reserve Board and served as in-house counsel for Equitable Bank, and later Maryland National Bank, where his responsibility encompassed all retail banking activity, consumer finance and regulatory compliance. He is a graduate of Carleton College and the University of Maryland School of Law.
