My practice focuses on commercial law/UCC issues regarding sales of goods, negotiable instruments, bank collections and payments, letters of
credit, consumer finance, secured transactions and bankruptcy. I frequently service as an expert consultant or testifying expert for law
firms that are litigating commercial law/banking cases. I also have made a number of appellate arguments in federal and state courts
dealing with commercial law/UCC subjects. I frequently speak on these topics around the country. My career has had a strong academic
component: I have taught at a number of law schools, including the University of Virginia, Georgetown, GW and Kansas. I am the author
of three treatises used by lawyers around the country, all co-authored by Barbara Clark: The Law of Secured Transactions; The law of Bank
Deposits, Collections and Credit Cards; and The Law of Produce Warranties. Barbara Clark and I also publish two monthly newsletters:
Clarks’ Secured Transactions Monthly and Clarks’ Bank Deposits and Payments Monthly.
