David Melcer retired in May 2024. Prior to retirement, David was Senior Counsel and Senior Director with Bread Financial in Columbus, Ohio. He is a widely experienced consumer finance and banking lawyer, having advised clients on a myriad of consumer financial products, consumer finance litigation and complex transactions. He primarily practiced in the area of credit card lending. He was also previously in private practice with Bass & Associates, P.C. and was in-house counsel with several banks and consumer finance businesses, including Discover Card, Greentree Financial, Conseco Finance, and HSBC Finance Company (formerly Household International). As in-house counsel he advised Bread Financial on legal and compliance issues, governmental relations, and the development of new products. Mr. Melcer is licensed to practice in Illinois and Arizona and had corporate counsel status in Ohio.
