Meredith Fuchs is a leading consumer financial services lawyer, with expertise in banking, fintech, and data privacy, and extensive experience overseeing corporate, commercial, regulatory, government relations, and compliance/risk management functions. She has over 20 years of executive level experience assisting Fortune 500 and privately held companies develop successful products, engage with governmental entities, and ensure operational excellence.
Meredith serves as Chief Legal Officer at Plaid, a transformative financial services technology infrastructure company, where she leads the Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Government Relations, Public Policy, Governance, and Enterprise Risk functions. Meredith works closely with the CEO, Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and Compensation Committee on strategic initiatives, profoundly impacting product innovation and policy development.
Meredith was a key architect in the establishment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where she significantly influenced the U.S. financial regulatory landscape, serving as General Counsel and Deputy Director after serving as Chief of Staff to CFPB Director Richard Cordray.
Meredith previously was Senior Vice President and Chief Regulatory Counsel at Capital One, where she transformed the company’s enterprise regulatory legal function and was the primary legal counsel to the bank’s Enterprise Risk and Compliance functions. She also previously served as a Chief Investigative Counsel for the Energy and Commerce Committee in the U.S. Congress and as a law firm partner. Meredith has used her expertise in government and regulatory engagement to influence the development of laws and regulations, to successfully launch a variety of innovative consumer financial products, and to guide corporations through regulatory oversight.
Meredith currently serves as Board Director to the Financial Technology Association, the DC Bar Foundation, and Legal Counsel for the Elderly.
