James Wylie is AVP, Corporate Counsel at the State Employees Credit Union of Maryland, Maryland’s largest credit union, (SECU MD) where he supports legal, compliance, and governance functions.
James previously served as Deputy Director of Public Interest Examinations (2024 – 2025), Associate Director for Fair Lending Oversight (2021 – 2024), and Manager for Fair Lending Oversight (2018 – 2021) at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, where he stood up the fair lending and consumer protection oversight of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks and led those functions until 2025.
James also served as a Senior Counsel in the Office of Regulations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (2015 – 2018), a Trial Attorney in the Fair Housing Enforcement Division at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (2008 – 2013), and an instructor for the National Fair Housing Training Academy (2016 – 2017).
James graduated from the University of Tulsa and the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
