Dick Stephenson is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Mechanics Bank where he is responsible for all of the Bank’s legal affairs. Prior to joining Mechanics Bank, Mr. Stephenson served first as the General Counsel for Home Loans and Consumer Lending at Washington Mutual Bank and then as the Chief Compliance Officer at Washington Mutual. Before joining Washington Mutual, he was a member of the Financial Services Practice Group at Morrison & Foerster, LLP. Mr. Stephenson has worked in or represented financial institutions for more than thirty years. He is an adjunct professor of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and the University of San Diego School of Law.
