Larry Platt retired from the private practice of law in May 2023. Larry was a partner in the
Washington, D.C. office of Mayer
Brown LLP and concentrated his legal practice in the law of consumer
credit, particularly with respect to residential mortgage lending.
His transactional practice included negotiating purchases and
sales of mortgage companies and mortgage-related assets; joint
ventures; commercial credit agreements; and services agreements.
In addition, Mr. Platt counseled clients on federal and state
consumer credit laws, defended clients in government enforcement actions,
and represented clients in governmental public policy matters.
Mr. Platt is consistently ranked by Chambers USA and in 2023,
Mr. Platt again was listed under Financial Services Regulation:
Consumer Finance (Compliance) (Star Individuals). Mr. Platt
was listed in the 2012-2023 Best Lawyers in America guides
in the area of banking and finance law.
Larry presently is an Adjunct Law Professor at Georgetown
University Law Center, teaching Advanced Legal Writing: Transactional
Practice. He received his J.D. from George Washington
University in 1982 and his B.A. from University of Pittsburgh
in 1976.
