Jeff Ehrlich is one of the most experienced CFPB practitioners. A founding
employee of the Bureau, Jeff served more than eight years as a deputy enforcement
director. In that role, Jeff managed hundreds of investigations and led teams
that brought 106 enforcement actions—more than one-third of all CFPB enforcement
actions filed during Jeff’s ten-plus years at the Bureau.
Since leaving the Bureau in 2022, Jeff has led the Consumer Financial Services
Regulatory practice at McGuireWoods LLP. There, Jeff represents banks, credit
unions, fintechs, title companies, and other entities that provide
consumer-financial products and services before the CFPB and other federal and
state regulators.
Since 2020, Jeff has taught Consumer Finance at the Florida International University
College of Law and the Benjamin L. Crump College of Law at St. Thomas University.
In 2024 at St. Thomas, Jeff debuted a first-of-its-kind course that focuses
specifically on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Jeff received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of
Michigan. Following law school, Jeff clerked for the Honorable James Lawrence
King, United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
